County authorizes bidding for several bridge replacements and resurfacing projects; federal funds to cover majority of costs
The Lorain County Board of Commissioners approved a series of engineer resolutions Nov. 4 authorizing the county engineer to advertise for bids on multiple bridge replacements and resurfacing projects in Rochester, Wellington, Carlisle and other townships.
County staff said bridge projects are funded through federal programs managed in Ohio by the County Engineers Association of Ohio acting as program manager for funds routed through the Ohio Department of Transportation. Commissioners were told typical federal matches run about 80/20 (federal/local), though one project noted in the meeting was funded at 100% and another at 95% depending on credits.

Second public hearing on Mahoning County road tax
MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - The Mahoning County Commissioners and county engineer held another public hearing to discuss a sales tax renewal months before it would be on the ballot. The renewal increases the sales tax by a quarter of a percent for infrastructure like bridges and roadways.
In 2021, Mahoning County voters approved the sales tax for road and bridge improvements. Now, even though it's in place until 2027, the groundwork is being laid to renew it.
If county commissioners approve to place the renewal on the ballot, Pat Ginnetti, Mahoning County engineer, said he will do more public outreach and presentations for voters.

Major S.R. 161 and U.S. 33 Interchange Project Completed in Union County
UNION COUNTY — Construction is now complete on the S.R. 161/Post Road improvement project at the U.S. 33 interchange. The $40 million initiative, a partnership between the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the City of Dublin, the Union County Engineer’s Office and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC), delivers a safer, more efficient interchange to serve the growing region.

New roundabout to hit Mahoning County
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WKBN) — Get ready for another roundabout in Mahoning County as work has started in Jackson Township.
The roundabout is going in on Mahoning Avenue at the Bailey Road intersection.
The $6.2 million project will also see a portion of Mahoning Avenue rebuilt and repaved between Route 45 and Duck Creek Road.
The county engineer says it will help improve traffic flow and safety.
